Vice President of Legal & Regulatory Affairs

Keith has been Vice President of Legal & Regulatory Affairs at Emera Energy since October 2022. He is responsible for Emera Energy’s commercial contracting, legal and regulatory compliance, corporate governance, corporate transactions (including M&A and financing), risk management, and a range of general counsel matters.

Since joining Emera Energy’s legal team in 2012, Keith held a series of increasingly senior roles and in that time contributed to the growth of the core business as well as taking a leading role in a number of major corporate transactions. Before Emera Energy he practiced corporate and commercial law in Toronto at a national law firm and at Atlantic Canada’s largest regional law firm. He has extensive experience in energy-related commercial contracts, including natural gas and power commodities trading, energy management agreements and offtake arrangements with power generation facilities; energy-related M&A and financing; and managing compliance and regulatory risk relating to wholesale power and gas markets and power generation. He and his team work closely with commercial, credit, and other teams to provide practical and strategic advice while managing risk.
